Make a Vase! Slab Constructed Ceramic Vases w/ Exhibiting Artist James McFarland

In this hands-on workshop, you will learn to use ceramic slab construction techniques to create your own unique vase in clay. Discussion and demonstrations will include making and assembling clay slabs, tips and techniques for seamless slab construction, and how to dry your work properly to avoid warping or cracking. Surface techniques and glaze finishes will also be discussed.

Clay will be provided, and tools will be available for student use. Students may bring their own tools as well.

Each student will create at least one slab constructed vase.

Work will then be fired, glazed, and students will be notified when work is ready from pickup. This process takes ~2 or 3 weeks to complete.

Ages 14+, all skill levels are welcome. Clay can get a little messy, so please dress accordingly.
