Watercolor paintings are typically protected under glass, but applying a layer of cold wax directly on your finished watercolor is a fun alternative and will protect your painting without the typical glare of glass. Because the cold wax contains no water, it can be applied directly to the watercolor painting and will not redissolve the paint. We’ll create a winter pasture scene using wet-in-wet techniques, waterproof ink for details, and a splatter effect to create snow. Then we’ll apply a cold wax coating to protect our paintings which can be framed without glass.
