Discover the Magic of Batik with visiting artist Rosi Robinson
Come and discover the Magic of Batik with international Batik artist, Rosi Robinson. Batik is a traditional Far Eastern resist technique of decorating fabric, using wax and dyes. You will learn how to apply hot liquid wax with traditional and contemporary waxing tools; how to mix colors; and how to apply washes of colorful dyes to fabric and paper. You will learn how to build up a design starting with the lightest color, building up to the darkest, how to create textures and how to remove wax at the end of the process to reveal a beautiful textured design or picture.
Batik has been Rosi’s passion for over 50 years! Rosi was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. She is based in Sussex, England, but visits Monkton, Maryland for two or three months of the year. She loves doing batik, exhibiting it and of course teaching it.
