Come and discover the Magic of Batik with international Batik artist, Rosi Robinson! During the workshop you will be introduced to a variety of techniques. You will learn how to adapt the traditional Far Eastern resist technique of batik in more pictorial or abstract ways. You will learn how to apply hot wax using traditional and contemporary tools as well learn how to mix colours and how to apply washes of dye on fabric and paper. Rosi will work with each person individually and will take you through different stages. You will learn how to build up a design starting with the lightest color, building up to the darkest; how to create textures and how to remove wax at the end of the process to reveal a beautiful textured design or picture.
This class will meet on Friday, February 6, 9:30 – 4:30PM and Saturday, February 7, 9:30 – 3:30PM.
