Manor Mill Gallery is thrilled to host New York City based acrylic painter, Gigi Chen, as our visiting artist of 2025! She will be hosting a full-day acrylic painting workshop titled “Neon Wings!” on Saturday, September 13th. This class is appropriate for beginner, intermediate, and advanced acrylic painters.
Gigi will also have her artwork displayed in our gallery within our upcoming “From the Forest” exhibit during this workshop. To stick to the exhibit’s theme, and relate to her personal artwork, this one-day workshop will have a focus on birds and neon lighting, something Gigi has mastered with acrylics! A reference photo will be provided the day of the workshop.
The workshop will run from 10am-4pm, with a 30-45 minute lunch break. All participants will leave having completed, or mostly completed, one acrylic painting. You can expect Gigi to complete an overview of herself as an artist, give demonstrations, followed by one-on-one instruction for all participants.
Gigi states, “I love dark and mysterious paintings. In this class, I shall demonstrate how adding an unusual light source can really change the feel of a scene. The class will work on a painting together from a photo reference. I will show step by step how to render a realistic scene and how to add a neon-glow to a painting.
Gigi has an impressive exhibition record and most recently exhibited internationally at BeinArt Australia! She also was a 2021 Beautiful Bizarre Art Prize finalist, had an article written about her work on Thisiscolassal.com, and recently exhibited her work at Arch Enemy Arts in Philadelphia. Her strong imagination and incredible skills as a painter shine in her work and we are overjoyed that she will be coming this September 13th to share her skills, tips and tricks with all of you!
Class will be limited to 10, so sign up today!
Participants should plan to bring most of their own painting materials and a lunch. (There is one close lunch option close by as well.)
