In this class, students will explore the art of cane weaving to make a Nantucket bracelet. Students will be learning to identify the correct and incorrect sides of a cane weaver and how different weaver sizes impact the final bracelet design. Using two pieces of cane as a base, participants will experiment with various wrapping techniques, incorporating narrower weavers for unique effects. To inspire creativity, I will provide examples of completed bracelets and discuss different design possibilities that students can apply to their own creations.
This bracelet project presents a slightly greater challenge than the previous ¼” Nantucket cuff bracelet. Those who have completed the ¼” cuff bracelet should note that this design utilizes the same techniques but requires additional time and precision.
The class welcomes participants of all skill levels, from young adults (18+) to seniors. Anyone may register, though it is important to understand that this session is more advanced than the ¼” bracelet class. If you have taken a previous bracelet-making class with me, you are encouraged to join. Newcomers without prior Nantucket bracelet experience are also welcome—this course offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in cane weaving and create a bracelet using a copper cuff.
